FAQ

Where is RESPR headquarters located?
RESPR is located on New Mexico State University campus at Anderson Hall.

What does RESPR stand for and what it means?
RESPR stands for ‘Regional Earth System Predictability Research.’  It means that no matter how large the world computational resources are going to grow, the best we can hope for is to be able to develop a clear understanding into the earth system behavior in only a regional sense.  In other words, regional earth system predictability is and will be challenging in the foreseeable future (i.e., in the next fifty (50) years).

What is the RESPR connection with Los Alamos National Laboratory?
Dr.  Stalker, who founded RESPR, was a technical staff member at Los Alamos before he incorporated RESPR in 2002 as a New Mexico small business.

What is the RESPR connection with Santa Fe?
During the first year of its existence, the company headquarters was located in Santa Fe since James held his staff scientist position at Los Alamos on a part-time basis at the time.  For a number reasons (both personal and professional), the headquarters was moved to Las Cruces, New Mexico in 2006.

More questions/answers will be added to this list as we receive them.

Las Cruces is a vibrant city for businesses and offers an excellent standard of living with its multitude of natural attributes (e.g., clean air, water, over 330 sunny days a year).  In Las Cruces, nobody wastes much of their time in traffic jams as their big city counterparts do!  You can find more information about Las Cruces from many online sources, including a local economic development organization, MVEDA.
